[blparent] YouTube video the right to raise a family

I love your answers.

My daughters are now grown also, and when people ask if it was hard having
blind parents, I have heard them say, heck no, we had a great life. This
weekend my younger daughter told someone they were spoiled growing up. I
don't know about that, but they are great girls.

I enjoyed watching the video of blind parents. My son is now 40 and my
daughter is 30 and I have a granddaughter who is 19

I am reminded of the answer my daughter gave when someone asked her if it
was difficult to have a blind mother. She said yes it was because I could
hear what she was doing from other places in the house and she could not get
away with the same things that cited parents might mess. She describes
sitting on the chair with the cookie jar on her lap trying to remove the lid
without me hearing it. She usually did not succeed. If she took cherries or
all of from the refrigerator I could even identify the jar she opened by the
sound

One trick I learned accidentally was to have her keep a box of TicTac's in
her pocket at the playground. I could keep track of exactly where she was by
the sound of that the candy made in the box that is until it was shared with
all the other children and then they were gone.

Because we had to walk everywhere I think my children develop an excellent
sense of direction.

Not to say there weren't problems but for the most part we got through
everything day today.

Of course there were always people that would say to Me oh aren't your
children such good helpers. I would usually answer is yes I taught them
everything they know.
