[blparent] [parent] Accessible ways to track diaper changing, feeding, etc.

Keep in mind that you will most likely be in the hospital for less than 24
hours. If you need to be their longer you will hav more to worry about than
keeping up with this log for other people. I guess my take is that if the
apps are pretty easy to use it is probably worth it to do just because you
might like to use it with child care providers later, or just for
communication when trading off with your partner. If it is a hassle, I would
just let it go and let someone else fill in the log.

Congradulations on your upcoming birth and my best wishes for an easy
transisition to parenthood. :)

Hi Everybody,

Thanks for all the discussion and suggestions about tracking baby info.

Tracey, I really like the Baby Feeding Log app. Darrell and I tried it out
and I think it works well. Thank you! I love how simple the interface is.

Ronit, we'll experiment with the Baby Connect app. I haven't tried it yet,
but Darrell couldn't get it to work. Good to know that it's working for you
though.

Stargazer, your message made me laugh. I agree, baby care probably doesn't
have to be half as complicated as they try to make it seem at all the
classes we've attended.

Overall, tracking baby feeding, diaper changes, sleep, etc. probably isn't
absolutely essential. We can probably do just fine without it. However, we
know that the hospital I'll be delivering in requires parents to log these
things. It's not a negotiable thing if we want to deliver there, which we
do. So the point of our questions was not, is tracking baby metrics
necessary, it was that since we have to do it, what's the most nonvisually
accessible way to do so? We both read Braille, but the hospital staff do
not. We could let nurses or friends log for us in print, but that sounds
really annoying at best, and not at all useful to Darrell and I at worst. So
I'm thinking something electronic, like an app, may work for everyone. We'll
see. Thanks again for the suggestions.

Best,

Allison, Darrell, and Baby Girl Pending

Hello,
I still have the Baby Feeding Log app, and it looks the same now as it did 2
years ago. There is a button that says Left for the nursing mom to remember
witch side she fed from last, a bottle button for formula or pumped breast
milk that has a place to indicate how many oz were drunk, a rite side button
for nursing, a diaper change button ware you can indicate wet dirty both or
dry. There is also a sleep timer but we never needed to use it. If your wife
will be nursing, she should double tap witch ever breast she will be feeding
from at the start of a feeding, and this starts the timer. When baby is done
double tap the done button. Bottles should work the same way, you just have
to add the number of oz drunk. Hope this is helpful, let me know if you have
questions.
