[blparent] Meal planning

Hi Jen, Did you cook it on high or low? Most of the crockpot recipes
I've used call for at least six hours on low.
For ground meats, I usually pick up a little bit of the meat and touch
it with clean hands to see if it feels firm. You can also see if your
spatula sinks into the meat (it shouldn't once it's done) and
sometimes you can smell it or it will make less noise.
Another trick I've used is to cook the meat in the microwave for 4
minutes. Then I drain it in a colander, run it under cool water and
break it up with my hands. If it still feels slimy I'll microwave it
for another minute or two.
When cooking ground meat on the stove, if you cover the pan it will
cook more evenly.
