Well, I had almost given up hope of getting insurance and a car 
for the next few years until my son is older.  But after checking 
with several companies, I was able to get an affordable quote 
from Triple A if I only get liability, and so a much older car.  
I may have more repair bills because it is an old car, and the 
gas mileage may not be as good as the newer car my dad was going 
to help me buy, but at least I was able to get one! Even with the 
good grade discount, moving my home insurance to Triple A, and 
only paying for liability, the monthly premium is still almost 
$200, but I can live with that and still pay for groceries! Haha! 
It's amazing the difference in premium quotes I got from 
different companies! The range was huge! Although the car is very 
old (almost as old as my son, it only had one owner and was kept 
in good shape.  It's a 1999 Buick Century.  Now we are enjoying 
driving to the grocery store instead of paying for home delivery, 
and we plan to go to the cinema this week.  Fun! Thanks to 
everyone for sending in advice!
