I wouldn't take this on. $100 flat fee tells me
she'll be late in picking up her kids because she has no insentive to not
pick them up.
Since your son is older, do you still have stuff for the baby, a glider, a
place for the baby to sleep, diapers, food, toys, a carseat? You mentioned
not wanting your son to feel put out, and in addition to that, will you
still have enough energy and patience to enjoy him and give him the love he
needs and deserves when these kids go home?
I personally wouldn't take this job. I see too many issues with this woman
beginning with her price point to make this a good idea. On a gut check
level, the fact that you didn't smile and say "I've taken care of my little
boy since he was born" tells me that God was at work here and that this is a
bad idea. Even if God isn't your thing, pay attention to what your doubts
and the hard facts are telling you.

Have many of you babysat other people's children as a full-time job? I was
thinking about babysitting a ladies kids for her. She has a three-year-old
and a two month old. She came to meet me. I was told that she wasn't so much
worried about the three-year-old as the two-month-old. She is worried
because she doesn't know how someone who can't see can take care of a child
that small. I explained that I do things a little bit differently but I can
still do it. I mean, look at my almost 3-year-old little boy! Who do you
think took care of him? I don't know if I'm going to babysit these kids
because I haven't heard from the mother. I also don't know if it's worth it
because I have to get up at 4:30 AM and they would be here until 3:30 PM.
She would only pay $100 per week. Not for each kid, just flat $100. It would
be four days a week.
If I do take on these kids, how did some of you travel with three small
children or did you just stay at home a lot? I don't want my son to feel
like he has to suffer because I'm taking on two other kids. If that makes
any sense at all.
Shelby
