[blparent] police called

My son-in-law is a state trooper. What would be a hoot is if you had a policeman relative or acquaintance who would agree to wear a blind fold and let you take him sighted guide, he holding your elbow, and walk past the busy-bodies.

That would have really started the rumor mill spinning! I love it! People
talk too much.

Jennifer if I'd been you, I'd have found a
bunch of male friends and walked around with some, had lunch with others,
maybe gave one I thought was hot a hug, in other words I'd confuse the heck
out of your neighbors.

It was really not a big deal in the end. My family still thinks it was
pretty funny. The o and m instructor even thought so when I later shared the
part about several people calling my mom and sister. I included him in the
story here so you would all know I was not wandering around dangerously in
and out of traffic or anything.

Like Rebecca wrote, anyone can call the police. They were involved yesterday
because someone saw my son on the way to the library and called the police.
That had nothing to do with blindness. My other son and I had two police
cars involved last year when we were walking home from cub scouts because
someone called in.I said we were fine and showed the officers the map on my
phone that my son and I were stopping to consult every block or so because
he was learning about maps in scouts that week. Many people like to relieve
their own discomfort by calling in a police report so they can tell
themselves they took action to make the world a better place. People notice
us because of the blindness and when you add a cute kid to the mix it will
draw even more attention. I have been asked variations on the question of
who lives with me to feed my guide dog a number of times. If people do not
think we are competent to put a little kibble in a bowl, of course they
think we, and any child with us, are in great danger when out without a
keeper. :)

Oh my gosh! It didn't even occur to me that the priest could be called when
I'm walking down the street with my daughter! Frankly, excuse my French,
that scares the hell out of me! I may not have been on this list when you're
told that story, what happened?
LOL! I'm feeding my daughter right now and dictating. That was supposed to
say the priest not the priest. Police
