[blparent] Braille Embosser

This is true but Iused to scan my mail and I was able to manage. I
think I brailled a few bills and bank statements and was able to make
sense of it after a little decoding in my mind and then after that I
relied on the scanned copy as long as it wasn't jumbled up garbled
text. I would sometimes check over the phone to make sure I got the
balance owed correct. I had an experience where someone who I thought
was a friend read some credit/calling card information, and either
copied it down or remembered it and made about $200 worth of charges
on me so I don't trust depending on sighted readers for personal mail;
besides, they start asking questions that aren't their business anyway
or wanting to take initiative and control over finances or they gossip
in the streets about personal matters. I really can't understand how
people say oh they don't even use or need hard-copy Braille anymore!
Some folks I now freely give out their banking infor and card pins to
others. that ain't myself! Besides, I have had those things stolen
from myself without even willingly divulging and I can't understand
how folks just freely give that sort of thing like that! It's
maddening because then if you meed up with their friends they think
and expect you to do the same! OpenBook worked for me and Internet
banking or over the phone bill pay well enough. there ae plenty of
other opportunities for me to use sighted help still. I never had an
Optacon outside of school available to me, but I am familiar withit.
When you've been burned, you can forgive but you can't ever forget it
and you mustn't allow that EVER to happen again!
