I don't know a lot about this or what is going on, but last night I was listening to the local news and they brought up
something I am not sure how I feel about. The teachers and the education board here are talking about changing the whole education
system here from kindergarten to grade nine. They were sayhing that since most children come to school with devices of some kind
such as i phones etc, and how a lot of kids no about going onto the internet and in some cases how to navagate simple sites that
they are going to do away with text books and writing on paper altogether and everything will be computer based. Being a 62 year
old grandma and not that good at technology I am not sure how I feel about such a big change all of a sudden. Isn't there a good
chance that a lot of children could be left behind, and what about the costs of i phones etc to parents who are low income? I just
have so many bad feelings about this. Children are already so used to calculators, in some cases I have been into stores where
people do not know how to add and subtract on paper let alone in their heads. They were talking about doing away with memorization
altogether. Where is it all going to lead? I know I sound extremely old fashioned, but I would like to hear some oppinions on
this. Curious minds want to know. I hope I am not sounding stupid here. I believe that our kids should know about computers and
all that goes with them but i would like to see them know how to do things themselves too.
God knows the end from the beginning so we can trust him with everything in between.
