Wendy,
I personally do not feel that your perspective is old-fashioned!
I am only 32 and I have similar feelings to you when it comes to everything being done using technology.

I have a 3 and a half year Old son. I let him do some things on the iPad. The majority of what he does still involves using his imagination, and his hands on without electronics. He loves puzzles. He also loves reading books. I try to encourage his imagination and he has quite a vivid one! smile while I feel that it is important to know how to use electronics as that is the age in which we live. As someone who has always struggled with math. I cannot imagine having never learned how to do math using paper and a pencil. There are times when technology is simply not available. It's a wonderful tool and asset. However, I personally do not feel that everything should be on electronic format. Do not get me wrong I am very thankful for everything that we are able to do with electronics! It is probably something that would be loaned the kids by the school I imagine if the families are low income and they are not able to afford the electronics.

Perhaps my perspective is different than others my age. I am a child of an educator, and my father is a very avid reader! Even with all of the things available in electronic format he often still has a paperback book that he reads and carries around with him. He still uses electronic formats as well.

Hope you have a good day.

I don't know a lot about this or what is going on, but last night I was listening to the local news and they brought up
something I am not sure how I feel about. The teachers and the education board here are talking about changing the whole education
system here from kindergarten to grade nine. They were sayhing that since most children come to school with devices of some kind
such as i phones etc, and how a lot of kids no about going onto the internet and in some cases how to navagate simple sites that
they are going to do away with text books and writing on paper altogether and everything will be computer based. Being a 62 year
old grandma and not that good at technology I am not sure how I feel about such a big change all of a sudden. Isn't there a good
chance that a lot of children could be left behind, and what about the costs of i phones etc to parents who are low income? I just
have so many bad feelings about this. Children are already so used to calculators, in some cases I have been into stores where
people do not know how to add and subtract on paper let alone in their heads. They were talking about doing away with memorization
altogether. Where is it all going to lead? I know I sound extremely old fashioned, but I would like to hear some oppinions on
this. Curious minds want to know. I hope I am not sounding stupid here. I believe that our kids should know about computers and
all that goes with them but i would like to see them know how to do things themselves too.
God knows the end from the beginning so we can trust him with everything in between.
