[blparent] Introduction and a question

Hello, Liz,
My kids are grown, but we managed in all sorts of transportation situations.
I'm no longer up on the most up-to-date conveyances, but I can tell you what
we did.
Both my husband and are blind, and we used both paratransit and fixed-route
buses, sometimes a combination of both. And, of course, cabs.
When our youngest was a baby, I had a car seat with carrying handles. It
doubled as a car seat or baby carrier. The handles came up from the head
and foot in suit case-fashion, and I could easily carry Baby very securely.
When she was able to sit up, we used the frame pack constantly.
Many busses have fold-down child seats for the toddlers.
Another thing we did: At a strip mall near our house, I had established a
relationship with the cleaners where we took my husbands work suits, so, if
I had a lot of errand-running to do with the kidlets, I asked the vendor if
I could leave the car seat in a safe place in his shop and come back when we
were ready to leave. It worked perfectly.
Judy
