I'm curious, do you live in some kind of special
housing? I've never heard of housing that won't let you open a window below
a certain temperature

Hi Jessica. She's been doing some of these things for about two or three
years now and we thought she would just grow out of it, but the defiance has
gotten much worse over the past few months. We have reached out to her
pediatrician, who has referred us to a behavioral therapist. We're also
working with an organization called Sunrise. Our Sunrise case worker is a
family advocate who has been giving us suggestions for keeping the home
safer and we're in the process of implementing them. Thank god for our
housing authority and their willingness to help us childproof the windows
and doors to the best of our ability and still follow state and federal
regulations!

Today has been the first really good day we've had in about a week or two.
She went to bed with very little fus and no running around or opening the
window. Housing fines people who have windows open when it's below fifty
degrees and she opens her bedroom window when she wants to be defiant
because she knows we'll come in and close the window, giving her the
opportunity to try to escape her bed time by running through the house.
