[blparent] Starting a Parent's Division

Good afternoon everyone,



My name is Casandra. I am new to this mailing list, but have been a member
of the organization since March 2008. I am legally blind since birth due to
optic nerve hypoplasia and have been familiar with the organization’s
philosophy since I became a member.

A little bit about me. I used to live in Illinois six years ago. I went to
training and graduated at the Louisiana Center for the Blind in Louisiana
back in 2014. I completed a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling in
Arkansas in 2015.  I currently reside in the state of Hawaii and have been
working as an employment specialist for the City and County of Honolulu.
Although my number one job is a parent; I have a one year old who keeps me
active. He will be coming with me this year to the convention.

Anyone coming to convention this year? I am interested to network and get
some ideas on starting a parent’s division here in Honolulu. I was hoping
to create a web site, a face book page as well as create consistent
meetings by phone which will discuss topics related to blind parents.

Any other suggestions are welcome.
