That hand pump was no better than a medieval torture device for me. I got no milk from it, just a lot of nipple pain.

Hi Debbie:  I tried that blasted hand pump and I could not even get a trickle of milk using that.  I ended up renting one from the hospital and that was a lot bbetter.

Do they still sell the old-fashioned hand pumps? They were inexpensive and easy to use once one got the hang of it. Very low tech.

If all else fails, you can rent a breast pump from your local hospital.
That's the route I chose when I couldn't get one through Medicaid.

Try WIC as well. In some states they provide breast pumps.
