[blparent] Measuring Medications

As previously stated, syringes for measuring medications are extremely
helpful. They do come in all different sizes. You can get them from your
doctor's office or a pharmacy. A 1 ML syringe would be best for infants.
They also come in three ML, 5 ML, and 10 ML-perhaps bigger as well. The
important thing is to have a sighted person put a notch in the plunger of
the syringe at the correct dosage. Then you can either just pull the plunger
up until you feel the notch, or you can fill the syringe completely full,
and then push the plunger down until you feel the notch. You might want to
experiment a little to see which works better. Some medicines are thicker
than others so aren't sucked up as easily by a syringe so filling it full
might be best. Some are thinner, so just pulling the plunger up to the
correct dose works fine.

I hope this helps.

Melissa
