Good Morning Everyone!!!

I am here to address your child with Type One diabetes.

Firstly, being that this is juvenile onset, your child will automatically be put on insulin.  

My recommendation is that you ask for your child to be put on a Continuous Glucose Monitoring System, or (CGM).  I, myself, am on the Dexcom G-6 and absolutely love it!!!  This not only comes with its own transmitter and receiver, Dexcom has developed an app for it as well which is completely accessible for totally blind users.  

So my explanation doesn’t get to technical and lengthy here, I’ll give you permission to connect with me off-list or VIA phone.  

Being a blind diabetic myself, I know wild and crazy emergencies do come up at even the worst times of day or night.  Please don’t hesitate to call.  I know how important our babies lives are.  Believe me!!!  Whatever you do, please call me any time.

So far, I have been writing things down in a booklet, but my husband wants to take this on since I am tied up at school during the day and this needs to be done by noon every day. We have a marker board by the fridge where he can write things down, and I can transcribe into the booklet, but this isn?t going to work if he wants to be able to call the nurse and tell her. That is too much to remember. This is a unique situation, but I?m sure we aren?t the first ones to go through any of this.
