[blparent] Looking for good portable car seat recommendations

Something else you can do is get an infant carseat specced for 30 lbs. Graco makes them.
You can also buy a car which is what we've done. Way easier then Uber or getting rides from friends.
What I've found, and this is on both sides of the equation as both receiving and offering rides is that people only have the type of car that meets their needs. What that means is that they don't often have room for 2 extra butts, not with seatbelt laws and their own kids.
Think too about Uber. It does indeed have its place. Unfortunately, Uber's role doesn't seem to work well with kids. Kids tend not to wait well especially if they are wound up, tired or hungry. This has nothing to do with parenting. Much of what you will want to do will not be near places you can walk to meaning that you'd be alone waiting for Uber to show up. This is true of nature centers which kids tend to love.
Also, kids can be messy in ways that only their moms appreciate. My preschooler usually comes home filthy meaning she gets in our minivan filthy. I don't care, it's my minivan and my kid, I wouldn't expect someone else to feel the same way. Also, I've had 2 of my kids puke in our minivan and one drop an ice cream... the ice cream dropper was my oldest. While I could have prevented the ice cream drop by not letting her eat ice cream, I couldn't have prevented the puking.
There is also the psychological impact of having your own vehicle. No way will I be left home without a comfortable convenient means of getting where I want and need to go.
If I were you, I'd tell your husband he is free to take Uber or get rides from friends all he wants. He won't be installing a carseat each and every single time, deinstalling the car seat each and every time, and he won't have a child in tow. If either of you does need to be without a car, he's the one. Don't make this into a blindness issue.

How much does it cost? I already have a stroller, but it would be nice not to have to carry a stroller and the car seat.

I am looking for suggestions of car seats that are convertible that she can be refacing in for quite a long time. I am looking for ones that are not superheavy and easy to transport between cars. I am blind, but my husband is not. However, due to his work schedule, there are times I will either be taking an Uber, will be getting rides with friends and family I need a car seat but it’s easy to transport and install. Thanks advance.
