Honestly, I believe you're overthinking this. If your son can see, he'll
learn to avoid you. Even if he can't, unless you sprint through your house
like a relay runner, the chances of you kicking your baby or falling on him
hard enough to injure him are minimal. Walking carefully isn't that
difficult. Do you really want a sighted person watching every move your baby
makes? That will cause more harm in the long run than any accidental nudge
or tap from your foot might inflict.

Instead of bells, I usually taped a box of Tic-Tacs to the back of my
daughter's shirt. Still, even when I didn't attach anything, I listened for
movement and was aware of where I put my feet. I never tripped over her or
stepped on her, at least not hard enough to do her any lasting harm.

Sharon,

Has it ever happened to you that you kicked your son accidentally while
walking?

Right now we try to have pretty strict rules in our home to always have a
sighted adult watching over the baby and letting me and my wife know every
time the baby crawls out of the playmat. But it actually requires a lot of
energy to always keep thinking where is baby right now. So I'm thinking
about relaxing the rules and I'm curious how safe it would be if we let the
baby crawl wherever he wants and we just follow your advice to walk
carefully.

And I guess, even if I kick the baby, that wouldn't do much harm
(relatively), but I'm more worried about tripping over and falling on him.
