[blParent] Braille Book Resources for Blind Parents?

The Print/Braille Book-of-the-Month Club from National Braille Press allows blind parents or parents of blind children to purchase print/Braille titles at the same price as the original print book. The books have Braille on clear plastic pages between the print pages, so the blind parent can read the Braille and the sighted child can read the print and look at the pictures.

Another great resource is the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled. In addition to the electronic downloads available through the BARD app, NLS also circulates hardcopy titles in Braille, and the library has hundreds of print/Braille titles that can be borrowed free of charge.

It's also easy to create your own print/Braille books by adding Braille on clear Dymo tape to the pages of a print book. Picture books don't have many words per page, so adding the Braille is less work than one might think.

Subject: [blParent] Braille Book Resources for Blind Parents?

Hi All:

I’m wondering if there are any programs for free or low-cost books for blind parents of sighted children? I definitely plan to purchase books from the main Braille children’s books places, but would love to have giant piles of books without going broke. 😊

Thanks in advance for any info.

Sincerely,

Natalie
