[blParent] Tips for administering eye drops?

Hello Helen,
This is certainly a tricky one. I think my husband and I must have had to
administer what feels like thousands upon thousands of eye drops for my
daughter throughout the years. We never used any kind of guide when she was
an infant, nor as she got older. Instead, we learned to gently use the tip
of our finger to locate her upper and lower eye-lids and center the dropper
of the bottle right in between. Of course, hovering our hand so as not to
get the tip of the dropper into her eye.
The single-drop only part is more difficult. The best way we found was to
practice with the drop bottles and get used to how the various ones worked
with different amounts of pressure. Some drops required no pressure and a
drop would just fall out, others required some pressure, etc. We'd first
test it on our hand to feel how much came out. This is not a 100% work's
every time method but it did work well enough for us over the 5 years of
drops we've had to give.
I know that may not be the most helpful information. I just wanted to share
what worked for us. Hopefully others will reply and provide even more
suggestions.
Best,
Ashleigh Moon
