Hi Mary. While FaceBook and MySpace are working and can be used to a limited 
degree by blind people they still aren't as accessible to us as they are to 
sighted users.
Also what works today can be preempted without notice by various 
technologies they introduce without notice or appeal.

So the resolution is still valid.
I was happy to see on some sites recently the capcha is understandible not 
with the noisy background noise the voice was actually clear but on other 
sites it's still garbled.
Social sites like Myspace and Facebooks have a variety of features, profile 
builders, online chat and other search tools. MySpace  even has  karaoke 
boards where you can perform and those boards have various settings so you 
can have an accompaniment music and or background singers,  change your 
voice, harmonize with yourself make the voice echo etc like an expensive 
Karaoke machine!  And you can display your talent for all to see even 
acquiring a following!

I'm only highlighting a few of the features.  Terra can utilize the Karaoke 
with no problem using her limited vision But I as a total, and some may see 
this as fortunate,
at leastwhen it comes to singing  with Karaoke can't use the site that well.
That's just one example of why the resolution is still very much valid.
Not my singing just the Karaoke part!
Perhaps other more intense social network folks can tell you more.
