[Cabs-talk] taking the GRE

Hello All,

I'm new to this list. After24 years of being out of college I'm applying to
graduate school. I've got so many questions and quite a bit of apprehension
to match. I'll begin by posing some questions about what to expect when
taking the GRE.

According to a couple of ETS representatives one cannot use JAWS. What are
your thoughts and experiences about using the proprietary Computer Voiced
GRE software? Is there time before the start of the exam to explore the
layout of the keyboard?

It's my understanding that graphs and diagrams are available in either
braille or large print. I'm in a quandary because I've never worked with
raised line drawings and I can see to some extent diagrams when viewed in
conjunction with a CCTV. Has anyone used this combination of accommodations?
What other options should I explore?

How long is the exam when opting for double-time? Are bathroom breaks
factored into the extended testing time?

Finally, what computer-based test-prep resources have worked for you?

I welcome your suggestions and any tips for test taking.

Best,

Lisa Irving
