>> Back to school is a time of celebration, excitement, and a little bit of nerves and this year is no different (okay maybe a bit more nerves)! Join Vista Voyagers as we celebrate returning to school and learn specific strategies for adapting to the new learning environment! Voyager students have been living, adjusting, and thriving during these unprecedented circumstances. During this Not-So-Normal Back to School event Voyagers will learn how to regain control of their lives and the value of acceptance and adaptability. Additionally we will have small groups to discuss student and family concerns with educational experts.
>>
>> We have two very special guests joining us, Michael Stephens and Stephanie Zundel, both speakers are TeamUSA Paralympic cycling athletes.
>>
>> As a retired US Army Combat Veteran, Michael is experienced in finding comfortability and control in uncomfortable situations. Michael was injured overseas resulting in the loss of his visual abilities. He began training for the United States Paralympic Team in 2016 and has since broken multiple cycling national records and holds 2 International and 5 National Championship medals. Michael will be addressing how to find control in your life when everything feels out of control.
>>
>> Fitness fanatic and Vanderbult alumni, Stephanie lost her vision as a young child and turned to sports as an outlet for personal growth and focus. She has run in both the New York and Boston Marathons and recently won the bronze medal in the 2019 Cycling World Championships! Stephanie has a passion for aiding children and currently works as a school counselor. She will be sharing specific strategies for combating anxiety, isolation, depression, feelings our students and families are feeling on a daily basis.
>>
>> The future is unknown and it may feel like life is spinning out of control. Come gather together with Vista Center as we celebrate a new year of student growth and learn strategies for adapting in this new world.
