Happy 2021! Youth of Tomorrow has some exciting additions: career
exploration, an achievement center, and new weekend sessions! Vista Center
is adding a *career exploration series* with a variety of career oriented
mentors who are visually impaired to social group. Youth will learn about
careers such as life as a chef, teacher, software engineer, lawyer and how
each individual adapts their work for accessibility.

YoT launched an *Achievement Center *where students who are active and
engaged in the groups earn points to “shop” in at the virtual center for
gift cards, tech gadgets, and other fun items.

You asked and we listened! YoT Social Group will now be meeting on *Saturday
afternoons*.

I look forward to working with all of you! If you have questions, ideas for
workshops or need help navigating young adulthood, please don’t hesitate to
send me an email or a text.

*Goal Getters!*

Let’s start the new year off right with a workshop on how to plan for
academic success. We will set goals for the year, review, and celebrate
your achievements from 2020. Together, we will answer any questions you
have related to school, college or work and share how to keep and carry out
your goals as you move through the new year.

Who: Youth with visual impairments ages 14-24

When: January 9th, 2021 - 1pm - 2pm PST

Where: Zoom

Email ajine at vistacenter.org for the Zoom link which will be sent out during
the week of the workshop as a calendar invite

*YoT Social Group*

Let’s hang out and explore careers together! Every month, a different adult
will speak on their paths to independence and offer their perspective
predominantly from someone with a visual impairment.

The first session will feature Stuart Soulek, an aspiring chef who is
finishing his culinary education in Southern California. Stuart will talk
about how he decided to pursue this career as a pastry chef, talk about his
college experience so far and he might even demonstrate how he creates
pastries in the kitchen! You won’t want to miss this Q&A session and learn
about a career in the food service industry.
