Hi all,

I'm writing to share a few updates about the California Association of
Blind Students. Whether you're a student who has attended a handful of our
CABS membership calls, or a generous affiliate member who has supported one
of our pie fundraisers, you've contributed to a tremendous amount of growth
in the student division over the past year.

Major growth sometimes means major transitions, so I'd like to properly
recognize and thank some of our long-time student leaders, most of whom
will formally be moving onto new commitments.

Florentino Becerra: thank you for bravely stepping in as our 2025 - 2026
student division president despite feeling very new to the organization.
Your commitment to learning, listening, and trying new things allowed our
student division to establish a new rhythm as we focused on recruiting new
members. Thank you for all you've done, and we wish you the best as you
transition into the workforce.
Nikki Dadlani: Thank you for being incredibly consistent, detail-oriented,
organized, and grounding over the past few years. Thanks to your constant
juggling behind the scenes, CABS reliably never lost momentum as new
members started attending our meetings. From sharing your insights on
panels to managing our social media, you've served in every capacity asked
of you alongside your many other professional commitments. While we are
disappointed in you choosing to step down, we are excited for your new
chapter in law school and are grateful that you are still actively
mentoring our new student leadership team.
Kunyeul Lee: Thank you for bringing your technical expertise, level-headed
thinking, and sense of humor to CABS. Many members may not realize just how
much dedication you brought to our students because of your humble
avoidance of the spotlight, but your impact can't be understated. Even when
you returned to the east coast, you still worked around the clock to help
CABS. You also lead three of our most successful fundraisers over at least
the past ten years. Wishing you the best as you begin your graduate studies.
Ethan Fung: Thank you for your tireless efforts in recruiting and retaining
new members. You are the primary reason why we have a new student board.
Your strategic thinking combined with your authentic warmth has brought
CABS together in a powerful way. Thank you for making yourself available to
mentor the new student leadership team.
Angelica Aldana: Thank you for stepping in as board member. Your passion
for advocacy and centering the student experience was incredibly helpful
throughout the past year. Thank you for always being very open about your
own student journey and turning your experiences into wisdom for others. We
wish you the best as you continue your student and advocacy journey.
Kyle Garcia: Thank you for serving in every capacity asked of you over the
past few years, and for helping our leaders integrate with the efforts and
people of the broader affiliate. CABS has not been the same without you,
but we wish you the best in your new role at BISM.
Lucas Nadolskis: Thank you for volunteering to serve on the board and
pulling in your extra resources (e.g., embossers) to support CABS. Although
your time on the board was short, we are incredibly grateful for your
contributions.

If you made it this far, please thank these individuals directly, and be on
the lookout for updates from our new CABS board very soon!

Cheers,
Gene
