hello arielle,

thanks as always for posting the minutes for the cabs meeting which was yesterday. it sounds like it was a very good and productive meeting. and, i'm happy for the progress that cabs has made in getting together a seminar at csdb! it also sounds like that cabs also will be doing some good things before convention this summer too!

like i have said if you need any help on anything please don't hesitate to let me know. i would like to assist in anything with cabs and with pr too! well, that's all for now take care and i will talk to you soon!

March 14, 2009

The CABS board meeting was held at the CCB.  Present were Marty,

Nijat, Melissa, Arielle, and Laurie from the board as well as several

other members and Chris Foster.

Marty will take responsibility for opening the CABS bank account and

will get Nijat and Diane on as co-signers.

Terry Garrett spoke with Lou Tutt about the CSDB seminar.  Lou prefers

that we meet with them on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday afternoon

or evening when the high school (college-bound) and transition

students are available.

The potential proposed dates are April 23, 30, May 7, and may 14 (all

Thursdays).

Melissa and Nijat will contact Lou by Friday, March 20 to propose the

four dates listed and get his top two confirmed preferences and then

will contact the rest of the board to make a final decision.

The event will potentially begin around 6:00 p.m.  and be an informal

ice cream social and networking event with a brief agenda.  We will

also bring literature and invite students to join or provide contact

information.

We discussed the possibility of holding a seminar for the CCB high

school summer students right before the national convention and

perhaps also a simple program for the elementary kids (also late

June).

Melissa will discuss these ideas with Julie and Brent and discuss more

details at the next board meeting.

Nijat will make a Braille contact list for CABS and other NFB

resources including parents of blind children, NFB of Colorado office,

NewsLine, CABS board, etc.

Maurice will burn more CD's.

The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, March 29.

Nehemiah will investigate a free conferencing service for CABS to use

in place of the affiliate conference line.
