            Dear Melissa,

            On behalf of Benetech, our Bookshare program and our more than 450,000 Bookshare student members, thank you for supporting Bookshare funding by sending letters to your Congressional representatives.

            Thousands of students, parents, teachers, and supporters around the country once again contacted their representatives, letting them know how critical Bookshare is for students with print disabilities like vision impairments and dyslexia. And those efforts make a real difference. As you likely know, the budget for the remainder of 2017 was passed by Congress and signed by the President and includes full funding for the work that Bookshare is currently doing.

            While the near term battle is past us, the longer term fight continues and we very well may need your help again in the coming year to support continued funding for Bookshare and the service it provides. We will be keeping a close watch as the 2018 budget negotiations get going.
