Carissa Brunsman-Johnson, aPh.D.  candidate in the Department of 
Biomedical, Industrial and Human Factors Engineering at Wright 
State University is conducting a research study to determine if a 
screen reader assistant can improve information searching on the 
web.  The screen reader assistant will help the user find the 
correct keyword for the website they are on.  This is for her 
dissertation entitled "Adaptive User Interfaces to Support 
Web-based Information Seeking for Users who are Blind." The 
research will use a screen reader that is similar to JAWS called 
NVDA and Mozilla as the Internet browser.  She is looking for 
people who are blind that are interested in learning the new 
screen reader and participating in a session in which they will 
conduct webpage tasks using this screen reader.  The NVDA screen 
reader is very similar to JAWS and has been changed to be even 
more so.  The participants for this study should be good with 
navigating webpages using JAWS and comfortable with learning a 
new screen reader.  The study will be conducted during the 
convention  and can be worked  around the participants schedule.  
Carissa will be in the "Reception room"  at the hotel to conduct 
the study beginning  Thursday evening.   The participants will be 
paid a $20/8our wage for the study sessions but not for the 
initial familiarizing with the NVDA screen reader.
