Thank you Shelbi for sharing all this information. What a wonderful thing it would be to gather at least 5 new people signed up & using Scrip to benefit our affiliate, not to mention registration for 2015 state convention being covered.

So many people do not yet use Scrip & I am not sure why that is. Fear of the unknown? No problem, we have a solution for that. There is assistance available for completing enrollment and even ordering, if needed.

Important information for Chapter members.

Our chapter secretary, Annette Lutz, is in the hospital due to some complications related to a recent surgical procedure. She is hoping to return home early this week. Keep Annette and her family in your prayers and thoughts.

NFB state affiliate is holding an Easter fundraiser with Malley’s Chocolates. Orders of $60 or more ship free. If you would like to place an order that is less than this amount but still take advantage of the free shipping opportunity please contact Eric Duffy at either peduffy63 at gmail.com or 377-9877. He will give you information on dates and getting the payment in. You can access the list of candy options through the state website, www.nfbohio.org, click on the place your order link. (JAWS users if you use the links option type the letter p.)

The next NFB Ohio Scrip order is due by 7:00 p.m. on March 3. That is a Tuesday evening. Happy shopping. Think ahead and plan for the activities you will be doing in March or possibly April. Are you going to Walmart, Target, Giant Eagle, Wendy’s, Bob Evans, Applebee’s, a pizza shop, a movie theater, shopping with Amazon or iTunes? Make your purchase in a manner that will benefit your state affiliate. Your only additional expense will be 15 cents, yes, that is right, just fifteen cents. Lets work to get 5 new people signed up for the Scrip program, using presto pay and placing at least 1 order so that the state convention registration fee will be waived for our chapter. We have until September’s order is released to accomplish this. The website for this program is www.shopwithscrip.com. You will need our enrollment code which you can contact me to get as needed. Due to security reasons I am not putting the enrollment code in this message.

Convention assistance forms for the 2015 National convention in Orlando, Florida are due April 15. This form has been sent to Ohio Talk. If you need a copy you can contact me by email at shelbiah1 at gmail.com and I will email it to you. You can then fill it out and email it to Eric at peduffy63 at gmail.com or send it to the Post Office box. Email is preferred so if you must send it by standard mail contact me for the specific address. Fax forms will not be accepted and therefore that is not an option.

The next state board of directors meeting will be April 11 by teleconference. The meeting will start promptly at 10:00 a.m. Watch Ohio Talk for more information.

Ohio still has Art Schreiber’s book available in print and C D versions. If you are interested in obtaining a copy of this book for yourself or to give as a gift contact Eric for prices and delivery.

Our chapter earned $55 from the craft day that the church held in December. Currently I have a basket of ponytail scrunchies at the church’s second-hand shop, Donna B.’s. These are selling for $1 each and 25% of sales is being donated to the church from our chapter as a thank you for allowing us to hold meetings in their building. The remainder of the money will go to our chapter treasury. I learned to make these on a knitting loom through the NFB’s Krafters Korner. Thanks to Pastor Patty for inviting our chapter to participate in this event back in December. We were able to make some new contacts with members of the church. Hopefully our chapter will be able to have a table at the craft event again this year. We learned that small items sell best as do baked goods, although that is not meant as an exclusive statement.

I encourage everyone to read the Monitor and keep themselves current on National Federation of the Blind happenings. Remember NEWSLINE® and Ohio Talk which are also tools to assist in getting information circulated to the membership.

Thanks, Angie, for all your work related to our meetings or lack there of. I appreciate it.

Shelbi
