Sorry to all for these minutes being sent at such a late date. Please read
them and remember to come to the meeting prepared to vote on them.

Capital Chapter

National Federation of the Blind of Ohio

 

The meeting started at approximately 10:00 a.m. Shelbi Hindel, president,
called the meeting to order. She is acting as secretary. Those attending the
meeting are listed at the bottom of these minutes.    

Debbie Baker visited from Springfield to give information to chapter members
about the upcoming BELL program, answer questions, and recruit volunteers.
This is the first year that Ohio will hold a residential program. It has
been a day program in the past. The dates are July 17 to 22. There will be
background checks which are not required by the insurance company nor the
state of Ohio. 

 

Shelbi reported on the BLAST conference that she and Annette attended in
May. BLAST is Business Leadership and Superior Training. The conference was
held in Chicago. 

 

Stephanie Claytor gave the treasurer's report. The balance is $652.65. Mike
F. moved this report be accepted as given. Mike L. seconded the motion. It
passed. (This is Mike F.'s first motion as a new member. Congratulations and
welcome!) 

 

Carol Akers gave information about the walk that is happening later this
month. It will start in the park behind COSI. Registration is now $40 a
person. The shirts will have the names of all organizations that participate
on them. Mike L. reported that ACB will also have members involved in the
walk. 

 

Jordy Stringer informed the group that he will have a summer job in
California. He will be working for the Lighthouse in San Francisco. 

 

Stephanie would like to hold a car wash fundraiser. She suggested holding
this at the Wendy's, located at the intersection of Hamilton and Refugee
Roads. The second Saturday of August is the suggested date. 

 

Jordy moved that we play the Presidential Release near the beginning of each
meeting. Stephanie seconded the motion. It did not pass when an individual
vote was called for. Mike L. will help those that do not know how to access
the Release.   

 

The chapter has sports water bottles to sell that are those that are being
given to the children at BELL. One of these was passed around for people to
see.  

 

 

The meeting adjourned at 11:40 a.m.
