Capital Chapter National Federation of the Blind of Ohio

Meeting Notes

President Annette Luts called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

We did not have enough board members present to hold an official meeting.
There were two officers, seven members and one guest present.

The state convention will be held November 2 to 4, in Strongsville, Ohio.
Pre-registration is open. It is $15 and the banquet is $40. These prices
will increase once pre-regestration closes. We think the closure is October
26. There are breakfasts and box lunch for $18 and a one-touch self defense
class for $15 to sign up for is you wish.

The affiliate wants to put together a bus to transport folks to and from
convention. This will be done if there is enough interest. The bus would
stop at a central location in the following cities Cincinnati, Dayton,
Columbus, Cleveland, and then the hotel. If interested get money to
affiliate treasurer Sherry Ruth. The cost is $50 per person. Put the word
bus in the memo. Dustin Grandstaff reported that Grayhound is $35 for a
round trip and then you must add the cost of transportation from the
Cleveland bus station to the hotel. That cost was not available.

Annette received a check for meat sticks that were sold at national
convention. We still have more of these to sell. There were enough
volunteers so will have a table at the state convention.

Lorain chapter is hosting hospitality. Donations are welcome.

Capital chapter will be contributing $50 worth of gift cards to be given as
door prizes. These will be purchased through the Scrip program. Shelbi
Hindel will handle this.

There will be an auction at the convention. Our chapter will contribute an
OSU gift bag. Members are asked to contribute money or items for the bag.
Shelbi will put the bag together. Bring contributions to the October chapter
meeting. People can contribute other items for the auction if they wish to
do so. The goal is to not use any treasury money for this project.

The block of rooms at the hotel will be released October 11 so get your room
reserved as soon as possible.

Shelbi has been asked to write the Gavel submission for the chapter. Get
information to her quickly. The report is due October 1.

The models that OSSB has are in need of repair. This is a major financial
undertaking. The Ohio affiliate plans to present a check to the school
toward this endeavor. Chapters, divisions and individuals are asked to make
contributions toward this. Money needs to be to Sherry Ruth by October 31.

After the December 1 meeting we will have our Holiday celebration. Dustin is
putting this together. Watch for more information to come on our chapter
list serv.

Congratulations to Heather Leiterman on her learning grade I. Braille
through the mentoring program.

The meeting adjourned at 10:47 a.m.

Respectfully,

Shelbi Hindel
