audio descriptions by Jane Ehrenfeld, plus the opportunity to touch a few
objects to feel their shape and texture.

Please sign up before it is canceled. We need three people to sign up by
4pm Friday, September 21.

To sign up, call 614-486-4402 or follow this link for free tickets:

AUDIO-DESCRIBED TOUCH TOUR AT THE OHIO CRAFT MUSEUM

Tuesday, September 25th, 2018, 6:30–7:30 pm

The Ohio Craft Museum is offering an audio-described touch tour of Shelter:
Crafting a Safe Home. Designated for visitors with visual impairments and
their companions, this tour will combine audio or verbal description of
visual objects with the tactile experience of touching the art (when
permissible) or replicas, facsimiles or other props that assist visitors
who are blind or visually impaired. The guide, Jane Ehrenfeld, will combine
verbal descriptions of the works with the tactile experience of touching
samples of materials, facsimiles or the artworks themselves.

Organized by Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh, Shelter features nearly 30
contemporary fine craft works by 14 artists from across the country, with
works in clay, wood, metal, fiber, glass and more. The exhibition explores
the issues of homelessness, migration and displacement. A special focus
exhibition of Dwellings, ceramic constructions by Cleveland artist
Stephanie Craig, will be shown alongside Shelter.

Space is limited for this free program and registration is required;
participants must RSVP by signing up online (https://bit.ly/2FHGQb6), by
calling the museum at (614) 486-4402 or email info at ohiocraft.org.

Private group tours are available for groups of eight people or more:
either audio-described touch tours, or educator-led, conversation-based
gallery tours without audio descriptions. To schedule a group tour, please
call or email.

This event is funded in part by Eye Designs of Grandview Heights. The Ohio
Craft Museum also receives ongoing funding from the Ohio Arts Council, the
Greater Columbus Arts Council and the Columbus Foundation. The museum is
located at 1665 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43212. Hours are
Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; Saturday–Sunday, 1–4 p.m. Admission and
parking are free. Donations are appreciated. For more information, call
(614) 486-4402, or see our website at www.ohiocraft.org.
