Meeting Minutes


Meeting Date: February 12, 2022

Start time: 1:00PM

End time: 2:40PM

Attendees: Annette, Misty, Shelby, Marieka, Larry E., John. Marilyn, Jordy,
and Maggie.



Open Discussion:

A friendly wager between Marilyn and Jordy regarding the winner of the
Super Bowl game held on Sunday, February 13th. Jordy has picked the Bengals
and Marilyn has picked the Rams. Whichever team does not win, that person
will donate a dollar to the chapter.



Treasurer Report:

Current Balance: $1,009.00

Discussion:

Annette shares that she and Jordy have a meeting set for February 23rd to
complete the transition from our previous treasurer to our current.

Jordy shares that there is a mistake within our email address linked to the
chapter’s PayPal account, and the reason for it not working. He also
recommends that the chapter should change the email associated to the
PayPal account. Jordy reassures members that despite the misspelling of the
email address, it does not interfere with the chapter’s bank account.

Marilyn asked the question and Annette answered by stating that members can
still write in checks to pay their dues. Jordy adds additional comments and
shares that PayPal transactions will give you an electronic receipt.

Maggie asked the treasurer to provide the mailing address for new members
that may wish to mail their dues. Jordy states that all dues must be mailed
to:

Lancaster, Ohio 43130.

Checks made payable to:

Capital Chapter National Federation of the Blind of Ohio.

Memo line should have:

Capital Chapter Dues.

Motions:

First Motion:

Jordy made a motion to establish a new email address to have it connected
to the PayPal account.

Larry second the motion.

Motion passed by everyone.

Second Motion:

Shelby made a motion to Accept the treasury report shared by our chapter
president.

Larry second the motion.

Treasury report passed by everyone.

Old Business: In-Person Chapter Meetings

Annette has not been able to get in touch with the church for the potential
meeting place in April. She opens the discussion for ideas on a possible
new meeting place.

Marilyn has suggested a new location at a church, if the location does not
come through. Other members have also made recommendations on potential
meeting places; Annette will look into those recommendations as well.



Old Business: Washington Seminar

Washington Seminar:

Jordy provides insights on the Washington Seminar for 2022. He believes
that all of their meetings went well and were well received. He also states
that he believes they received a lot of good feedback as well. Jordy would
like to see the Capital chapter build a relationship with the new
representative, Mike Carey.

Annette provided updates and requests regarding the Insurance Committee
bill, and shares the urgency on getting the emails sent in as soon as
possible. Maggie added additional comments by stating that there is a
template letter that could be used in sending out the emails.



New Business: Chapter List Serve:

Annette shares that she is the new monitor for the Capital chapter list
serve. She and Maggie explain how to sign up for the list, along with other
Ohio based lists. They also answer questions on trouble shooting options.



New Business: Amending the Chapter Constitution

Open Discussion:

Jordy suggest having a special meeting to go over the chapter’s
constitution and to explain the benefit in making certain changes. A
potential date of February 27th has been discussed; however, Jordy will let
chapter members know at a later time.

Motion:

Maggie made a motion that the amendments be postponed until new members
have an opportunity to pay their dues.

Marilyn second the motion.

Motion was passed by everyone.



News & Announcements:

Annette has been appointed to serve as the affiliate’s historian, and
shares that all records will be archived on a national level. She also
shares that national is working on a national civil rights museum and that
there will be a survey on what people would like to have displayed.
National has provided a phone number for those that do not have a way to
use a computer to complete the survey. That number is:

(229) 632-7878. The survey will be open until the February 18th.

Annette also mentioned the news on the in inaccessible COVID-19 tests. She
shares the update of AIRA offering free assistance in taking an at-home
test. Annette provided additional information on virtual assistance such
AIRA and Be My Eyes.

Maggie made an announcement for the Community Service Committee’s upcoming
event on February 16th at 7PM, called Amazon & Apps Conversation.

Maggie and Marilyn mention potential fundraising ideas for the chapter
which included a virtual wine fundraiser and selling candy at the state
convention.

The next chapter meeting will be held on March 12th at 1PM EST on the Ohio
Zoom platform.
