Hello and happy Thanksgiving.
For this gift exchange, you probably would not want to use gift cards or alcohol. Typically we want a wrapped gift that would appeal to pretty much anybody, not specifically for a man or a woman. What we do is everybody will get a number. The person with the lowest number Will pick out a gift. They will unwrap it in front of everybody so everybody knows what they have. The next person then can either choose to pick out a gift or take the gift that the first person had and so on. It ends up being a lot of fun. If somebody takes a gift, then the person without the gift gets to go and pick another. That way everybody who participates ends up with a gift.
Glad you are able to come. We will have a good time.
Annette.

Gift exchange question. I haven't been to one of these in a minute. Are gift cards ok? Can alcohol be part of the gift exchange?
Is it a white elephant type of thing?

Hello!
I wanted to give everybody a reminder and an update on our upcoming chapter meeting and Christmas party next Saturday, December 6, at 10:00 AM. As usual, we will be meeting at the Clinton Heights Lutheran Church at 15 Clinton Heights Avenue. We will have a short meeting, followed by our annual Christmas party!
I tried to find us a restaurant to go to, but failed to find one that met our needs for a separate room. So we decided just to have our party there at the church. We are ordering a honeybaked ham as the main course, and then we are going to do a potluck for sides and desserts. So, we are asking all of you to let me know if you will be attending the dinner and what you will bring. That way we have a good number for how many to plan for and we don’t end up with a lot of the same stuff. I know we have a lot of great cooks in our chapter, so I’m looking forward to trying all of your specialties. If you do not cook, you can still contribute by volunteering to bring plates, napkins, and plastic utensils. Or you can always offer to bring buns if somebody would like the option of sandwiches. Just please let me know. Also, we will be asking for contributions to pay for the ham and Drinks. It still should come out quite a bit less expensive than if we would’ve went to a restaurant. Once we know how many people are attending, we can decide how big of a ham to order and know how much it will be.
We will also be holding our annual chapter gift exchange. If you would like to participate, please bring a gift valued around $20 or so. Please have it wrapped or in a gift bag so nobody knows what it is. Usually, we pick numbers and go in that order where somebody can grab a gift. Then as we go through everybody’s number, people can decide whether they’re going to steal a previously opened gift or they’re gonna pick a new one. It’s a lot of fun.
Again, everybody is welcome. If you would like to bring a guest, that would be great! They are welcome to join us for both the dinner and the gift exchange if they would like to participate. Just please let me know so that we can plan accordingly.
I hope and pray that everyone of you has a very blessed Thanksgiving! I am looking forward to seeing everybody next week.
Annette.
