[Cash-and-caring] convention activities

Folks,
1) I think 20-minutes for discussion may be too much of our hour session at
convention. Perhaps we can have a way to pose questions via a submission
box? We can dedicate 10-15 minutes to picking out the good ones. We can
even start this now somehow??? We can kill 2-birds with one stone, register
to be part of our network, and submit a good fundraising question to the
team.

2) I think this committee should only commit to Meet the Blind month if the
idea is to turn these events into fundraisers. This can be something as
simple as chapters circulating flyers directing folks to our PayPal. "Hello
we are the NFB, here's a blurb of what we're about, and please support us by
contributing to our cause." It can also be a more involved event such as the
chili dinner/white cane appreciation banquet. I understand we need to
"CARE" about the PR but Ramona is quite accurate that "CASH" is the first
word in our title, and we need to definitely keep that our focus.

3) The Newsletter, I suggest a spin off the Toolkit, keeping it electronic,
with five-seven articles. 1-A message from our Chair, introducing our
continued call to action, outlining the format of the project, salutes, and
reminders. 2 & 3-Can be new financial planners. 4 & 5-Can be an article from
someone who has recent succeeded in raising money. 6 & 7-Focus on the
National sharing aspect: upcoming events we need to support, national
fundraisers in the happening, summary of our convention treasurers report,
final thoughts from the committee or infusing inspirational words from our
president, etc...

I want some input from affiliates and chapters about what would be most
helpful to them. For example, if you are planning a new or expanded
fundraising and education activity, what might be useful from someone
outside your chapter that might have some experience? Perhaps we can do
that online before the convention. Perhaps we should give it twenty minutes
at convention. Any comments?

I would be glad to do a conference call on how to add fundraising to "meet
the blind month" activities. Is that what you have in mind, mark and
Jeanny? I love the p r, but I don't want this committee to take on so much
that we can't do any of it.

I also would be glad to have suggestions for a newsletter. How often?
electronic or something else? Anything else you have in mind.

I will talk with Scott LaBarre if I can.

Ramona
