Lorraine,

Oklahoma offers plates for many non-profit organizations, but you have to
have at least 500 pre-paid orders before they will press the plates. The
design must be approved by the state, but the organizations receive a
portion of the proceeds for any that are sold.

Subject: [Cash-and-caring] fundraiser idea: A State of Vision

I stumbled across this unique fundraiser in Florida. Some states have lots
and lots of drivers. Could an NFB affiliate do this successfully in one of
the states? The website says:

Created July 1, 2006, the "
l> A State of Vision" specialty license plate fees of $25 go to the FAASB
agency serving your county, to benefit people who are visually impaired or
blind in your community. Below is an image of the tag. You can buy a
<http://www.flhsmv.gov/specialtytags/slpgift.html> specialty tag gift
certificate, as well. Please visit your local tag agency to find out how to
get "A State of Vision" plate.

I see that FAASB stands for Florida Association of Agencies Serving the
Blind.

The Website is http://www.faasb.com/license%20plate.html. The photograph of
the plate shows a lighthouse on the left, stylized waves across the bottom,
with sunny colors for a background. At the top the plate says "FLORIDA" and
at the bottom it says "A STATE OF VISION" and the car's license number goes
in the middle - I think it looks nice, both pretty and uncomplicated.
