Hello I posted while at the Washington Seminar and a lot of things
didn't work right with that post so here is my introduction. I was at
the Colorado Center for the Blind from May of 1997 through August of
1998. The reason why I was there for so long is because I am deaf/
blind (not severe). I am currently a masters student in Educational
Technology University of Northern Colorado. I am applying to the
doctoral program in my department because I have come to the
conclusion that from talking to a lot of people around here that a
funny thing happens in the teacher education programs. Apparently they
don't learn anything about adaptive technology and the general
education teachers tell me that they are to refer any student that
needs adaptive technology to the vision teacher. So I have come to the
conclusion that it would be substantially better that both sets of
future teachers to learn depending on how much they need learn
something about adaptive technology and given where we are going in
this country I think it makes sense for me to become a prof and teach
this. The other area of research I would strongly like to investigate
is touch screens particularly in the area of mobile phones. On a much
lighter sight of what I am doing I work part for the University's
(UNC) IT program. I have fallen in love with Itunes and I listen to
virtually all kinds of music and I like to listen to romance, history,
and detective novels and of course books about technology. If any of
you have face-book I do have a page. If anyone wants to correspond
with me off list you can.Thats all for now, I guess I should get back
to working on the multi media project that is due next week. PS Keep
my way from Star-bucks coffee houses.
