Subject: Note for career fair email
The Washington State School for the Blind is recruiting working
professionals, businesses, work and volunteer sites, and agency
representatives to partner with in preparation for our annual Career Fair
February 27-28. This multi-day event will include guest speakers and
workshop sessions on campus Wednesday, February 27, and site visits to local
businesses, training centers, and volunteer sites on Thursday, February 28.
We are currently looking for community members to help in one of two
capacities:
* Lead a small group discussion or workshop on employability skills,
professionalism, college readiness, employer expectations, community
engagement, independent living, or other area of expertise. We will plan
for 30-45 minutes for this meeting, which can take place on campus or on a
conference call between 1:00-2:30 p.m. on 2/27.
* Host a job or volunteer site visit. Students will be traveling in
groups of 5-6 with staff to various workplaces, training centers, and
volunteer sites on 2/28. A successful visit would include a tour of the
facility, discussion of the various jobs employees on site do and any
required degree or training, discussion of workplace expectations and
desired employability skills. WSSB can schedule tours between the hours of
8:30 am and 1 pm.
