HAZEL DELL — Enrollment is open for a program which helps community members better respond to disasters.

The 20-hour Community Emergency Response Team training starts Sept. 21, and runs about once a week to Oct. 21. The training will be conduced through Clark County Fire District 6 and the Vancouver Fire Department.

The curriculum is aimed at helping neighbors stay safe and temporarily self-sufficient after a disaster.

Topics include disaster preparedness, basic firefighting, basic emergency medicine, light urban search and rescue, disaster psychology, organization and communications, and information on terrorism.

The course costs $30. Participants must be Clark County residents, and they have to attend all classes to complete the program.

Classes will be held at District 6’s station at 880 N.E. Hazel Dell Ave., with other locations to be announced.

Applications are available online at <http://www.ccfd6.org/> www.ccfd6.org or at the station. Applications will be accepted until Sept. 15.

For more information, contact Dave Sinclair at 360-576-1195 or cert at ccfd6.org or email Dan Pierce at dan.pearce at cityofvancouver.us.
