<body class='hmmessage'><div dir='ltr'> <table id="CRCareers1_tblJobDescrDetail" style="width: 95%;" border="0"><tbody><tr><td class="HeaderStyle" colspan="2">15:02: Paratransit Dispatcher<br></td></tr><tr><td colspan="2"><table border="0" cellpadding="3"><tbody><tr><td class="CaptionStyle">Type of Position</td><td class="MainBodyText">Full Time</td></tr><tr><td class="CaptionStyle">Pay Range</td><td class="MainBodyText">Starting wage $21.54/Hr-Top of Range $28.70/Hr</td></tr><tr><td class="CaptionStyle">Posting Date</td><td class="MainBodyText">1/2/2015</td></tr><tr><td class="CaptionStyle">Application Deadline</td><td class="MainBodyText">Open Until Filled</td></tr><tr><td> </td><td> </td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr><tr><td class="JDHeaderStyle" colspan="2">Job Description</td></tr><tr><td class="MainBodyText" colspan="2">SUMMARY<br><br>Maintains the continuity and effectiveness of C-TRAN’s paratransit service by dispatching vehicles and van operators to transport eligible passengers in the safest, most economical manner.<br><br>SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY<br><br>Individuals in this classification are expected to apply paratransit operation knowledge to recurring and new work situations. Work customarily requires exercise of independent judgment and decision making within the limits of established policies and procedures. Performance is measured through reports, conferences, and review of results obtained.<br><br>Individuals report to the Passenger Service Supervisor. Errors in judgment could have considerable impact on public acceptance of paratransit services, utilization of the van fleet, safety of paratransit patrons, and potential liabilities for equipment related accidents. <br><br>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS<br><br>The following summarizes the essential or key responsibilities/attributes of the position the incumbent will be required to perform with or without reasonable accommodation:<br><br>Schedules paratransit services to meet service demands while maintaining continuity and economy of service.<br><br>Monitors radio transmissions to assure schedules are maintained. Identifies causes of service disruption (accidents, breakdowns, delays, etc.) and takes corrective action. On a day-to-day basis, determines adequacy of service and recommends adjustments.<br><br>Memorizes and accurately recalls Clark County geography including location of major roads, neighborhoods, schools, parks, key landmarks and buildings and the overall system of addressing. <br><br>Keeps current on conditions affecting passenger loads; reports findings which might require a change in service.<br><br>Handles emergency and nonemergency phone calls, complaints, and inquiries from the public.<br><br><br>Continued. . . <br><br>Responds to public safety responders’ needs and requests from the field.<br><br>Operates 2-way radios, computer aided dispatch and scheduling software, Mobile Data Transmitters (MDT), and other communication tools and equipment.<br><br>Follows complex and detailed instructions, orders, and protocols while working in a highly multi-tasking, multi-sensory, and often-stressful work environment.<br><br>Responsible for e-mailing and/or recording the operator assignment line and receiving and logging unscheduled operator absences.<br><br>Maintains and completes all required records, logs, and reports. Assures that oncoming dispatchers are aware of circumstances which might affect any future shift.<br><br>OTHER FUNCTIONS<br><br>May assist in the training of new non-contractual paratransit personnel. <br><br>Perform other duties as assigned.<br><br>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES<br><br>Previous experience of sufficient length of time to demonstrate competency in the field of paratransit operations including a thorough knowledge of safety procedures. <br><br>Minimum two years experience in paratransit operations or other type of dispatch environment desired.<br><br>College background in communications preferred.<br><br>Knowledge of and ability to operate a two-way radio communication system, computer aided dispatch and scheduling software, Mobile Data Transmitters (MDT), and other communication tools and equipment. <br><br>Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to the needs of the elderly and persons with disabilities.<br><br>Ability to maintain clear reasoning in stressful day-to-day situations and react quickly and correctly to emergency calls and situations.<br><br>Ability to effectively plan routes and reprioritize work assignments as needed.<br><br>Continued. . .<br><br>Thoroughly familiar with area streets and the location of a variety of destinations. Ability to read and use maps. <br><br>Good oral and written communication skills.<br><br>Previous hands-on computer experience.<br><br>ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS<br><br>Regular, dependable attendance is required.<br><br>Must be able to comply with C-TRAN’s nonsmoking policy and function in a nonsmoking work environment.<br><br>Must pass an employment physical examinati
