I was awake at 5 this morning and listening to WAMU and there was an NPR program on the subject of blindness. It’s premise was that blind people could see if only the low expectations of what the blind can do in our culture could be raised. It told the story of Daniel Kish (not sure of the spelling), who lost his sight at the age of less than two due to cancer and having his eyes actually removed. He went on to teach himself to make clicking noises with his tongue and used it for echo location and went on to do most everything, including riding a bicycle. The program included a lot of other, related information.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Is anyone familiar with this? I did not catch the name of the program but think it would be well worth listening to.
