Gave an update on the newly introduced HR6621, Aim High Act regarding accessible instructional materials for higher ed. Urges all NFB members to get out and vote. Reminds us the Help America Vote Act requires accessible machines at all polling places for a Federal election. Election day hotline for questions, reporting problems and reporting good experiences will be available. Washington Seminar will be held Jan. 29 to Feb. 2 2017. Website says room is available Monday through Friday 8 to 5. We are looking to see if we can get special arrangements to fit our 7 to 9 meeting time. Had discussed going to boathouse. Cost is $40 and we felt that it was too high. We still have a couple weekends to plan something. Glenda suggests going to Chili’s for the Chili’s fundraiser as a group. She just completed her small meal that was supposed to be for 8 people but ended up being for 16. She served teriyaki chicken, salad, peach cobbler and more. Cathy has advanced to learning contractions in Braille. Still making progress in technology. Today, Cathy crossed the interstate in travel. She’s doing great.</span><o:p></o:p></li><li class=MsoNormal style='mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><span style='font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica Neue",serif;color:#454545'>Chili supper will have to be on Saturday as usual. Sunday after service not an option. Foundation Fighting Blindness ended the campaign early<span class=apple-converted-space> </span>because of push back from the NFB. FFB did not reach their fundraising oal. The NFB is not opposed to the foundation and it’s blindness research, only the method they chose to gain publicity.<span class=apple-converted-space> </span></span><o:p></o:p></li><li class=MsoNormal style='mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><span style='font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica Neue",serif;color:#454545'>Bottom Dollar movie screening. We have the opportunity to screen a documentary on sub minimum wages. The film makers contacted the NFB during production and President Riccobono is featured in the film.
