Subject: ATAA legislation
Gerry, please post.
NFB National is doing a push with our legislative issues. This week is for ATAA. Please call as soon as possible.
Adaptive Technology Affordability Act – H.R. 1529 and S. 1918.
Please call your representative and senators – Representative Alma Adams, Tim Moore or Mark Harris and Senators Ted Bud and Thom Tillis at Capitol switchboard 202 224 3121. Please ask them to cosponsor the above bill(s). Here is a potential script. My name is – provide your name. I am your constituent. I am asking you to cosponsor insert bill name and number. Passage of this bill will help blind Americans afford adaptive technology screen reading programs which will enable them to acquire toe computer skills for entry or re-entry into the work force. This will save an estimated 315 million dollars in the first year alone. Thank you for cosponsoring this bill.
When we work together, we can accomplish most anything! Thanks everyone for your prompt attention to this matter.
Sharon Newton
Legislative Chair – Mecklenburg NFB chapter.
