Dear Cincinnati Chapter,
I totally apologize if any one of you thought I was putting out a message
that we had changed the chapter meeting and time. As my original email
stated very clearly, "I want to start a conversation". That was all. If
there was chaos and confusion, I hope it has been put to rest. I do want to
thank all of you for your feedback on this matter, however, because I think
it has saved us a lot of valuable time before we get it on our agenda. I
feel that more people were reached with this message being on the list than
if it were simply brought up at a chapter meeting. We heard from a few
members that we do not see all the time.
See you all on the 24th!

Hello Walter and all,
I thought I replied to this message this morning from the car, but since I
haven't seen my own message come back to me, I'm replying again to be sure!
Walter, first, this is just such a wonderful and clear statement of what our
chapter is and how we should proceed. I thank you for taking the time to
compose and send it!
Secondly, I want to set the record straight about a couple of things. I
have no problem with change. In fact, as you all know, I have a significant
hearing loss and so have struggled with the noise and distraction in our
current venue, but was reluctant to complain since I wasn't aware that it
bothered others.
And, also to be clear, I was providing the background of how we came to our
current meeting location simply in the interest of sharing that history with
those who are newer to the chapter.
Finally, one of the first things I promised myself I would do when elected
as your president was to create an email list so that we could talk to one
another more frequently. I did that and I am thrilled that it is working so
well.
I apologize if my message sent too quickly yesterday was misconstrued. I
love it when there are messages on this list. I did, however, have some
concerns that some memebers seemed to think we were voting on a topic rather
than having a dscussion.
In future, maybe when we want to propose an idea for a future agenda, we
could choose a subject line that begins with "A possible agenda item" or "An
idea to consider".
Just a suggestion.
I love love love that we are using the list to have this and any other
discussion, and apologize for any lack of clarity that came from me.
Keep those comments coming.
And, while we're commenting, wasn't our convention great?
Peace,
Deborah

Madam President and fellow chapter members,
I first want to applaud the idea to utilize this platform to communicate an
idea. I believe that we all understand that we have a procedure to make any
chapter related changes. The method used to communicate an idea (I believe
that is exactly what it is) encourages futher communication throughout the
organization. It also identifies the members that is interested in such a
change, so as you have in a following message, the idea will be approached
in a formal arena.
Secondly, I really believe that the members are excited from the convention
and want to continue the growth of the chapter. What has been good for the
chapter a few years ago may not be in line with the accomodations of the
group we have now. I hope that the organization continues to grow and if it
does, we must be able and willing to approach change with a open mind. Our
organization is made up of a group of people that come together to make a
difference in our community not just one or two people. Thus, my comment on
I agree with the majority.
In conclusion, I respect the Hierarchy and procedures of our chapter. In no
way was I trying to circumvent the set procedure for incorporating a change.
My intent is to serve in this organization in the capacity that I can. I
humbly submit that we should be allowed to communicate our ideas for our
chapter in this mannor. More good would come from it than bad.
Much love to all,
Walter Mitchell

Walter and all,
The subject line of this message was, I fear, very misleading to many as it
gives the impression that a change is being made.
It is not.
There is no change in meeting time or place until we have discussed it as a
chapter at a chapter meeting.
We can do that November 24.
Bring your ideas, please.

Hello everyone,
I will agree with the majority, I only ask that if we move to a Saturday
that we meet a little later in the day.
Thank you,
Walter

Hello everyone,
I would like to start a conversation to switch our chapter meeting day and
time to Saturday afternoon around 1:00. Even further, I would propose
leaving Washington Platform.
My personal reasons for this change are that I will be starting school again
and, although my classes will be online, meeting during the week may be
hard. For Jessie and I, dealing with the weekday traffic downtown is not
fun. Saturday is more relaxed and gives us more time to get there. Why move
out of Washington Platform? We are running out of room for one reason. We
are cramped now in that one side. The other reason is that it has become
more of a distraction than a pleasure to meet at a restaurant. Members
ordering food and drinks during the meeting, having their food delivered and
paying the bill while the meeting is going on has gotten to be very
disruptive.
Maybe the library the library would work out better.
Anyway, what do you guys think? Is there enough interest to make a change?
Let's talk.
