[Cinci-nfb] Summary of NFB Membership Committee meeting, this evening at 7:00 PM

Hello. Here is a summary of our most recent meeting of the Membership
Committee of the Cincinnati Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind,
this evening at 7:00 PM. In Attendance were: Christopher Sabine, Deborah
Kendrick, Lisa Hall and Dale Barta. Elif Emir Oxuz expressed that she would
be unable to attend the meeting due to a scheduling conflict.

 

Christopher reported that Elif has agreed to draw up mailing labels with our
new P.O. Box and will contact Elif her to see if she can have these ready by
October 1, which would enable us to have them ready for the White Cane
Safety Day / Meet the Blind Month activities later in October.

 

Deborah indicated that The White Cane Safety Day-typically scheduled for
October 15 to coincide with the national event-is also the date of a major
event sponsored by National Industries for the Blind, and several CEO's and
key stakeholders from Clovernook and CABVI will be unable to attend. Deborah
expressed that she had a meeting earlier today, and it was agreed that we
will be holding a combined White Cane Safety Day / Meet the blind event on
either October 20 or October 22. As in the past, this event will consist of
a march from Cincinnati City Hall to Fountain Square, where literature will
be available and people can ask questions about the NFB and Blindness
related topics. Christopher has agreed to staff a table at the event on
Fountain Square.

 

Deborah reported that she will be making the movie selection for the "Movie
Night at Clovernook on October 9 at 4:30 PM. Christopher agreed to contact
Scott Wallace, Recreation Coordinator at Clovernook, regarding the number of
people typically attending these events in order to determine what snacks
and concessions we will be providing. Lisa spoke with mark at CABVI, and he
has agreed to broadcast a message on Radio Reading Services concerning the
event; a similar message will be broadcast on the Clovernook recorded
bulletin board for employees.

 

Our next scheduled meeting is Monday September 21 at 7:00 PM.
