One of the most effective votes you can cast this November is in state legislative races. According to the Aug. 1 issue of CQ's Roll Call:

"State legislatures are now almost 17 times more productive than [the U.S.] Congress..."

The lion's share of legislative activity is accomplished not on Capitol Hill but at the state level—a place your vote can have great influence. According to the website article, during 2015-2016 state legislatures enacted more than 29,000 measures compared to fewer than 200 in Washington, D.C.
