Meeting Minutes for July 2017

 

1.       The July 2017 meeting of the National Federation of the Blind of
Cincinnati was convened by Vice President Lisa Hall at approximately 2:15
P.M., Saturday July 22 2017at the Washington Platform Restaurant in Downtown
Cincinnati. In Attendance were: Lisa Hall, Paul Dressell, Christopher
Sabine, Diane Carmony, Deanna Lewis and Elif Emir Oksuz. There was no
Treasurer's Report this month, as Emily Pennington reported to Lisa Hall
that she was unable to attend today's meeting.

 

2.       Lisa Hall moved to approve the June 2017 minutes. Paul Dressell
seconded, and the motion passed.

 

3.       Lisa Hall gave a report of the Ohio Bell Program, which took place
from June 25-30 at the Ohio State School for the Blind in Columbus. Ten
students participated, and there were 16-20 volunteers, including several
first time volunteers. Heather Leiterman served as Program Coordinator with
Marianne Denning and Debbie Baker as instructors. Lisa expressed that the
event was "very well organized" this ear and some time was spent discussing
the week's activities.

 

4.       Christopher Sabine reported from the Membership Committee that an
outreach event has been scheduled for October 18 at 11:00 A.M. at Assumption
Parish Mt. Healthy, expressing that he has discussed this event with
Deborah. The outreach event is scheduled to coincide with "Meet the Blind"
month, National White Cane Awareness Day and State Convention. The
coordinator of this event is in charge of the Senior Ministry. Approximately
40 parishioners from Assumption and St. Margaret Mary Parishes are expected
to attend the event. Lisa Hall, Dale Barta and Walter Mitchell are still
working to schedule similar outreach efforts with other community
organizations. Lisa reported that she will order Colonel Books and other
materials from the National Office for this and similar events. IT was
agreed that these events should occur every three to six months.

 

5.       The Remainder of the meeting was dedicated to Lisa Hall's
impressions of the National Federation of the Blind's annual Convention in
Orlando Florida, which she attended.

 

 

6.       Christopher Sabine moved to adjourn the meeting. Deanna Lewis
seconded, and the motion passed. The July 2017 meeting of the National
Federation of the Blind of Cincinnati was adjourned at approximately 3:25
P.M. on July 22 2017.
