Hello Chris,

The information for item 11 is slightly incorrect. The minutes show:

1. Walter Mitchell gave a report of the Fundraising Committee. The
Chapter will be hosting an "Eat Wings and Raise Funds" event on June 7 2017
from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM at the Buffalo Wild Wings located at 2692 Madison
Road at Rookwood Commons. Ten percent of all sales beyond $300 (dine in or
carry out) from those presenting a ticket will go to the Cincinnati Chapter.
An initial amount of $30 in funds is needed to cover the cost of the event.
Walter encouraged all Chapter Members to pass printed tickets out to members
of the community. Christopher Sabine reported that notice of the event with
a ticket that can be printed online has been posted to the Chapter Facebook
Page.

Corections:

1. $30 was not require to cover the cost for the event. BWW require
that $300 be raised in patronage. The event cost us nothing.

2. The funds recognized from this event was to benefit the chapter and
the BELL program.

I would appreciate if you could make the above corrections.

Thank you,

Walter

Walter Mitchell

Minutes for May 2017 (Revised)

National Federation of the Blind of Cincinnati

Meeting Minutes for May 2017

1. The May 2017 meeting of the Cincinnati Chapter of the National
Federation of the Blind was convened by Vice President Lisa Hall at
approximately 2:10 P.M. at the Washington Platform Restaurant in Downtown
Cincinnati. In attendance were: Lisa Hall, Emily Pennington, Lillie
Pennington, Joy Thomas, Christopher Sabine, Walter Mitchell, Judy Rudig,
Deanna Lewis, Paul Jordan and Sheri Albers. Rachel Spangler from the Miami
Valley Chapter attended as a guest.

2.       Walter Mitchell moved to approve the April minutes as emailed;
Emily Pennington seconded. The motion passed.

3. Emily Pennington presented this month's Treasurers report. Walter
Mitchell moved to accept the report; Judy Rudick seconded. The motion
passed.

4. Christopher Sabine reported that he and Lisa Hall met with the
Pastoral Council at Assumption Parish Mt. Healthy at their meeting on May 15
2017 to discuss holding an outreach event. He indicated that the Council
agreed to hold such an event in October to coincide with Meet the Blind
Month. The event will likely take place in conjunction with the Parish's
"white Wine and Cheese" event following 4:00 P.M. Saturday Mass at
Assumption Parish. The bulk of the parishioners attending these events are
seniors, some of which might be interested in the Federation and information
regarding vision loss. Walter Mitchell, Dale Barta and Lisa Hall are also
reaching out to their own church contacts to organize similar events.
Christopher asked all Chapter members to share information regarding our
outreach efforts with any community organizations and agreed to assist as
needed. Lisa agreed to order some additional materials from the National
office, including Kernel Books.

5. Judy Rudick gave a report from the Recreation Committee, indicating
that the last meeting revolved around the annual picnic scheduled for June
10 2017 at Winton woods. After much discussion, it was decided that each
member attending the picnic will bring their own food, as other options,
such as hiring a caterer, are not feasible.

6. Sheri Albers reported that the Ohio Affiliate raised approximately
$2,000 from its booth at the Flying Pig Marathon and online and print raffle
ticket sales. Proceeds from this event will go to the Ohio Affiliate's
Convention Assistance Fund. The State Affiliate will also receive a $500
check for its participation in the event shortly.

7. Sheri reported that the deadline for preregistration for the
National Federation of the Blind's Annual Convention is May 31, and she
encouraged all who plan to attend to book their hotel reservations as soon
as possible. The Convention is scheduled for July 10 to 15 2017 at the Rosen
Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando, Florida. Lisa Hall, Emily Pennington, Lillie
Pennington and Sheri Albers expressed at today's meeting that they will
attend National Convention. Sheri expressed that members attending National
Convention will be contacted by Ohio Affiliate President Richard Payne, who
will assign each member a time slot to staff the table for the Ohio
Delegation. As with last year's convention, The Ohio Affiliate will be
selling M & M's and tumblers. Sheri encouraged anyone from the Chapter to
contact her or President Richard Payne with any ideas for the Ohio Table at
Convention.

8. Walter reminded all Chapter members that the deadline for those
seeking assistance from the Ohio Affiliate to attend National Convention is
May 29. Sheri reminded Members that those seeking assistance must present
both a completed application form and a letter from the Chapter President
(Deborah Kendrick) to Affiliate President Richard Payne to be considered for
convention assistance.

9. Sheri expressed that plans for Ohio's 2017 BELL Program, which is
set for June 25 to 30 at the Ohio State School for the Blind in Columbus,
are almost finalized. The program has "a lot of new volunteers this year",
along with new activities. These include an outing to a period village
operated by the Ohio Historical Society, a visit from the Fire Department
and a goal ball demonstration by David Perry. Eleven students are currently
signed up for the program, including several first time participants.

10. Sheri reported on the success of the "Columbus Seminar" event, in
which eighteen members of the Ohio Affiliate met with legislators to discuss
three bills of interest to the Blind in Ohio: the Parents Rights Bill, the
bill regarding service animals and legislation to establish a state
rehabilitation council in Ohio. Sheri reported that Rep. P. Scott Lipps
(R-Franklin) has agreed to sponsor the service animal bill after meeting
with Sheri, Lisa Hall, Debbie Baker and J. W. Smith. According to Sheri, the
bill has been submitted to the State Legislature and is in final draft. The
Parents Rights Bill has been submitted to the State Legislature but
currently has not been confirmed for sponsorship. Sheri does not see this
taking much since the bill as written is a model drafted by the NFB National
office. The bill regarding the State Rehabilitation Council is still being
"tossed around" in the General Assembly. A version of this bill in the
Senate has sponsorship in the Senate, according to Kevin Miller, Executive
Director of Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities.

Page.

12. Lillie Pennington announced that she will be starting a summer
internship to assist in the planning and organization of the 2017 National
Convention on May 30 at the NFB National Office in Baltimore.

13. After some discussion, Deanna Lewis moved to allocate $50 to the
Cincinnati Association for the blind and Visually Impaired in memory of
Nolan Perry, David Perry's brother. Emily Pennington seconded, and the
motion passed.

14. Sheri Albers moved to allocate $100 to the Ohio Affiliate with the
stipulation that it allocate $20 to each of the five national funds: the
Jernigan Fund, The White Cane Fund, the Sun Fund, the Imagination Fund and
the Tenbroek Fund. Walter Mitchell seconded, and the motion passed.

15. After discussion, Sheri Albers moved that $25 be allocated to the Ohio
Affiliate to cover door prizes for National Convention. Walter Mitchell
seconded, and the motion passed.

16. Sheri Albers announced that long time Federationist Parnell Diggs has
relocated to Cincinnati to take a position as Administrative Law Judge for
the Social Security Administration and is interested in attending the next
Chapter meeting.

17. It was agreed that there will be no June meeting, due to the annual
picnic and the BELL Program. Walter Mitchell made a motion to hold the next
Chapter meeting on July 22 2017 at the Washington Platform Restaurant.
Christopher Sabine seconded, and the motion passed.

Emily Pennington moved to adjourn the May 2017 meeting of the National
Federation of the Blind of Cincinnati. Lillie Pennington seconded, and the
motion passed. The May 2017 meeting of the Cincinnati Chapter of the
National Federation of the Blind was adjourned at approximately 3:25 P.M. on
May 27 2017.

Respectfully Submitted,

Christopher Sabine

Secretary

National Federation of the Blind of Cincinnati
