I have a question. If we vote for the pot luck option, does that mean we do
not have hamburders and hot dogs?

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.

Subject: [Cinci-nfb] The Recreation committee Needs An Immediate Response
>From cincinnati NFB Chapter Members Regarding the June 10th Picnic--Shelter
Already Paid For!

Dear NFB Family:

The recreation committee met tonight with no additional members deciding to
join us. The following decisions were made:

1. The NFB Cincinnati Chapter will not pay for vehicle coverage; this
will be the responsibility of each person being transported by vehicles
other than access. For Hamilton county residents, the cost is $3 per
vehicle and for other counties, it's $5 per vehicle coming to Woodpecker
Woods shelter at Winton woods for the picnic. You should already have an
email from me with directions and the name which will appear on the shelter,
"Cinci NFB."

2. Catering services (option A) or "come bring whatever you want to"
(option B) are our options at this point. Please send me your vote on one
or the other by this Saturday; otherwise, I will assume you desire option B
which is "come and bring what you want." If you select option b., I will
not follow-up with you-just come with food and enjoy the fellowship on June
10th from 1:00 to 5:00. Following is option A.: The cater is offering the
following:

1. Grilled hamburgers, hotdogs and veggie burgers prepared offsite

2. Baked beans

3. Potato salad

4. Slaw

5. Spring mix with dried cranberries and mandarin oranges

6. Condiments including ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese,
onions, salt and pepper

7. White and wheat buns

8. A $75 delivery charge

9. After the $75 delivery charge is added in, (figured at 30 people
attending), the cost per person to the caterer is $15.50, Edible N Such
catering is listed among the top 10 catering services in Cincinnati and I
know a teacher who has used this service for several years. You can check
out the website by going to ediblensuch.com.

Based on last year's drink preferences, we are asking that each person bring
their own drinks. There is an onsite water source at the park shelter and
bottle water, cutlery, and desserts are being donated if we go with the
caterer. After I have heard back from everyone by this Saturday, I will let
you know what option the majority has selected; if option A is selected, you
will receive further instructions about who you should give your money for
the picnic to. Otherwise, just come with your food on June 10th and plan to
have a great time.

Finally, as you provide me with your option, please also let me know the
number of people you will be bringing to the picnic-whether they are paid
members or guests.

Thank you so much. Remember, your voice is important and no voice means
option B.

Sincerely,

Annie M. Carson, Recreation committee chairperson

The National Federation of the Blind Cincinnati chapter
