[Cinci-nfb] FW: [Important to Read--Cinci-nfb] Request for Nominating Committee

All,

I get up at 4 a.m. to work, and leave for the airport at 7:00. Therefore, this is my last message for now.

I am deeply troubled by the mean-spirited and circuitous approach to this issue.

Why, I wonder, did Sheri simply not pick up the phone and ask me if she could be on a nominating committee?

What is gained by introducing the topic in a combative manner to the entire list, immediately before my travels for work and a national holiday?

I am deeply saddened at the tone in these messages and that some of you are so abruptly certain that I am deliberately displeasing you.

I took on the job of president because I truly wanted to share with others much of what I have gained from involvement in the Federation.

As someone who has always had a career, I did not need something to do or a title for my resume.

When I began as president, I immediately read the constitution and tried to make things better.

The membership trippled. We increased our leadership group. I added this email list serv.

If sheri or Annie or anyone else felt that having a nominating committee appointed by me was such a hot issue, you should have contacted me personally long ago or, at the very least, brought it up during our October meeting.

No one did.

I decided with such small attendance of late, an open election as was done in the past would be easiest.

No one gave it a thought till yesterday.

Again, if it continues to be important, call me when I get back, and we will discuss.

Meanwhile, try to think about something good in every person you know.

Best,

Deborah

Deborah. Agreed! However, understand that if we do decide to form such a committee, I can participate as needed.

Dear Annie,

Honestly, I cannot fathom for the life of me why this is so important to you.

You have only been a part of our chapter for one election, and, for that election, we had a nominating committee. As I have stated, it was the only time we have done so.

It is simply too late to do it that way this year, but there is no reason to fear.

You can nominate anyone you please for any office.

You can nominate yourself for all seven positions, if that is what will make you smile.

Believe me, this is not something warranting such a fuss.

I am going to California for meetings in just a few hours. Thanksgiving is coming into all our busy lives.

People only need to be present to vote.

Not sure how this suddenly became such an urgent matter, but raising it when I am on my way out of town for a conference is simply too late.

If you are still worried about it when I get back, we can talk about it then.

Best,

Deborah

Greetings Deborah and the Cincinnati NFB Chapter members:

Currently, there are four members, (Sheri Albers, Walter Mitchell, Kim McEachirn and me) who have requested that a nominating committee be put into place for the December 2nd elections. I am going out on a limb to express my opinion further. Recently, It seems to be those individuals who do the majority of the work for the organization who are brave enough to stand up and say what they think about policies and procedures. You don’t have to agree with us, four, but at least be bold enough to say something.

Please read Sheri’s request: “According to Article Seven: Committees, the president shall appoint such committees that he/she or the membership of the organization deems necessary.

As a member of the organization, I deem it necessary for the formation of a nominating committee for the upcoming chapter election. This will ensure a smooth and efficient election process.

Please read Kim’s remark: “I understand Debra‘s response earlier of that is something that has not normally been done. I’m not sure whether normally something that being done, means that it is and authoritative notion that it does not have to be done.”

Does any one else have their own voice? If so, we encourage you to express yourself.

Blessings,

Annie carson

I am not sure if the constitution believe you’re funny directly to the president or whether in the absence of the president making that decoration decoration can be made by an organizational members. I am not certain for sure. However, I do think it is important that a nominating committee be set up. I understand Debra‘s response earlier of that is something that has not normally been done. I’m not sure whether normally something that being done, means that it is and authoritative notion that it does not have to be done. Thank you

Good Afternoon,

Thank you Deborah for sending out the recording of the constitution.

According to Article Seven: Committees, the president shall appoint such committees that he/she or the membership of the organization deems necessary.

As a member of the organization, I deem it necessary for the formation of a nominating committee for the upcoming chapter election. This will ensure a smooth and efficient election process.
