Good morning,

Here is the latest on our legislative efforts from the Columbus Seminar:

1. HB 303 Service Animal Bill: We made great strides to clarify the purpose
of this bill after it had been complicated by third party opponents. It is
currently in the House Economic Development, Commerce, and Labor Committee.
Representatives Scott Lipps and Brigid Kelly are members of this committee.

2. HB 309 Parental Rights Bill: This has passed through the House, and is
currently in the Senate Judiciary Committee. We met with members of this
committee, and the day we were in Columbus, Representatives Anne Gonzales
and Jeffrey Rezabek presented sponsor testimony.

3. Prescription Information Accessibility Act: We presented this issue, and
it was very well received. There have been several representatives willing
to sponsor this, and Representative Richard Brown has already written the
first draft of the bill. We are working on the finishing touches, and hope
to get it into a committee ASAP. Since this is moving so quickly, your help
is needed to start putting together your horror stories concerning
prescription medication inaccessibility. I will let you know when they are
needed, but keep them on file.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Best Regards,

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
